During TLT, we are assessing what
they learned during the making connections TLT round last week. We also are giving them a pre-assessment that
deals with asking questions during, while, and after reading. We will group students and start our asking
questions round next week.

MATH
Students reviewed the meanings of
number sentences; practiced determining whether number sentences are true or
false; reviewed the use of parentheses in number sentences; started learning
vocabulary and notation for open sentences; and practiced solving open
sentences.
Next week: Their
Unit 3 test will be on Monday. Students
will extend the base-ten place value system to decimals; review basic concepts
and notation for decimals through hundredths; and compare and order decimals in
tenths and hundredths.
SOCIAL STUDIES
Students learned basic map skills
by working with more special-purpose maps and identifying regions, and students
learned more about the Mississippi River.
Next week: Students
will use new map skills to acquire information about locations, take their
chapter 2 assessment, and start chapter 3 (The Peopling of the United States)
by learning new vocabulary (culture, diverse, the Americas, American Indian,
colony, Latino, Immigrant, European American, democracy, African American,
Asian American, tenement
